Informational use only

Ohio Energy Compare ("we", "the site", "the app") is a free, informational tool that displays energy supplier rates and offers sourced from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) Apples to Apples database. We are not a broker, energy supplier, marketer, aggregator, or affiliate of PUCO or any utility company. We do not complete transactions, collect payments, or facilitate account switches. Nothing here is financial, legal, or investment advice.

Independence and no affiliation

Ohio Energy Compare is independently operated and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or otherwise connected to:

• The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO)
• Any electric distribution utility (AEP Ohio, Duke Energy Ohio, Ohio Edison / FirstEnergy, The Illuminating Company, Toledo Edison, AES Ohio)
• Any natural-gas distribution utility (Columbia Gas of Ohio, Enbridge Gas Ohio, Duke Energy Ohio Gas, CenterPoint Energy Ohio)
• Any competitive retail energy supplier listed on the site or in the app

Utility and supplier names appear here as factual identifiers so consumers can compare offers. Use of those names does not imply any partnership, endorsement, or commercial relationship.

No affiliate compensation

Ohio Energy Compare earns no commission, referral fee, kickback, or other compensation when you click a supplier link or sign up with a supplier. Supplier links go directly to the supplier's own enrollment page on their own domain. We have no financial incentive to steer you toward any particular offer.

Data accuracy

Default-rate (PTC / SCO), supplier offer, and historical-rate data is sourced from public records published by PUCO at energychoice.ohio.gov. Wholesale market prices come from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). Data is refreshed automatically on a weekly cadence.

AI recommendations

The savings calculator uses Anthropic's Claude API to generate plain-English comparisons and suggestions. These are heuristic outputs, not personalized advice. The AI receives only the public offer details and your usage estimate — not your account history, your bill, or any personal information. Do not rely on AI output as the sole basis for switching suppliers.

No warranty

Rate and offer data is provided "as is" without warranty of accuracy, timeliness, or completeness. Rates and offers change frequently and may not be current. You are responsible for verifying all rates, terms, and conditions directly with the supplier and with PUCO's official site (energychoice.ohio.gov) before signing up or switching.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ohio Energy Compare and its operators are not liable for:

• Errors, omissions, or staleness in rate or offer data;
• Financial losses resulting from a decision to switch suppliers;
• Supplier performance, billing, service quality, or contract terms;
• Any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or app.

No endorsement

Display of a supplier's offer does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, or guarantee of that supplier's pricing, service, or business practices. Any "best match" or comparison label reflects a calculation based on the criteria you select; it is not financial or consumer advice.

Outbound links

When you click a link to a supplier's site, you leave Ohio Energy Compare and are subject to that supplier's own terms and privacy policy. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices.

Acceptable use

You may not scrape, crawl, or systematically download data from this site, attempt to interfere with its operation, or use it for any unlawful purpose. Automated access is prohibited without prior written consent.

Changes

We may modify the site, app, or these terms at any time. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
